Coordinators Make Everything Work

Area coordinators are usually parents, teachers, or counselors, and they are like coaches for a sports team. They train with PEERS' director and regional coordinators at a one-day "train the trainer" workshop that is held in Indianapolis and other cities. They learn the goals of The PEERS Project, how to train mentors and implement the PEP program, and how to educate parents of participants. Coordinators receive all of the relevant materials.

Coordinators work with schools and/or youth-serving organizations to identify and prepare peer role models to serve as mentors. The former are usually paid on a part-time basis by a school district or organization, except in Indiana where our DHHS grant compensates them.
